Short story and image series co-created with artificial intelligence. The text was written by Mariana Destro in collaboration with a language model (ChatGPT), based on a selection of literary references provided by the artist. The visual component includes seven AI-generated images, each derived from the previous one in a chain. The work is presented on a custom website built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Something’s Got to Give (2025) is a literary-visual piece created as a collaborative experiment between the artist and artificial intelligence. The short story — intimate, fragmented, and obsessive — was composed through layered gestures of writing, direction, and editing. Referencing the voices of Nelly Arcan, Lolita Pille, and the atmosphere of My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh, the narrative unfolds on the threshold between confession and simulation. The accompanying images, generated sequentially by neural networks, follow a logic of visual delirium and affective residue. The website hosting the work extends the experience into a silent, shifting environment, where text, image, and code form a fragile, post-human ecosystem.
