Posey 8-Brains — Pirate Octopus Synth of the Neon Abyss (v2)
Overview
Posey 8-Brains is an urban pirate octopus with dread-like face tentacles and a chest-mounted cyber keyboard. She rocks a skull cap, gold hoop earring, gold facial inlay, and a coin eyepatch. Her torso glows with bioluminescent circuitry; the keys on her chest shimmer in electric blues and violets and react to you in real time. This NFT fuses 32-frame pixel animation with a playable poly synth, now upgraded with four scale-aware pitch-bend modes, live scale switching, and intelligent note handling.
What’s New in this Version
4 Bend Modes (Numpad 7), including a new Quantized Glide for musical, scale-locked slides.
Scale-Aware Bending: in modes 2–4, bends conform to the active scale.
Note Fit Modes (Numpad 9): Normal / Block (mute out-of-scale) / Snap (auto-remap to nearest scale note).
Console feedback whenever you change bend mode (7), scale (8), note fit (9), bend speed (4/5), or attack (1/2).
Animation & Aesthetic
32 frames: mantle breathing, visor flicker, and rasta-tentacles tapping the exact keys you play.
Palette: acid green, magenta, emerald, hot orange, with gold accents (earring + facial inlay).
A visible bend strip on the chest keyboard brightens with expressive slides.
Play It — Controls (PC Keyboard)
A physical numeric keypad is recommended. Numpad keys are distinct from the top row.
Notes (polyphonic)
Top row: q 2 w 3 e r 5 t 6 y 7 u i 9 o 0 p ´ ¿
Lower rows: < a z s x c f v g b h n m k , l . - {
Hold multiple keys to stack notes.
Global Transpose (± semitones)
/ → down 1 semitone
* → up 1 semitone
(±24 semitone range; active notes re-tune live.)
Pitch-Bend (hold to glide; release returns smoothly)
Numpad 7 cycles four bend behaviors:
Continuous (classic wheel; not scale-locked)
Numpad − = −1 whole tone
Numpad + = +1 whole tone
Numpad 0 = −½ tone
Numpad . = +½ tone
Degree Targets (inside current scale)
Numpad 0 / . = − / + 2 degrees
Numpad − / + = − / + 4 degrees
Chord Color (inside current scale)
Numpad 0 / . = − / + 1 degree
Numpad − / + = − / + 3 degrees
Quantized Glide (inside current scale)
Numpad 0 / . = step −/+ 1 in the scale-offset ladder
Numpad − / + = step −/+ 2 in the scale-offset ladder
(Glides move smoothly but land exactly on scale tones.)
Bend Speed: Numpad 4 slower, Numpad 5 faster.
Note Attack: Numpad 1 shorter (snappier), Numpad 2 longer (blended).
Scale Selection
Numpad 8 → cycle the active scale.
All scale-aware bends (modes 2–4) and note-fit logic adapt instantly.
Note Fit Modes (out-of-scale behavior)
Numpad 9 cycles:
Normal — everything plays
Block — out-of-scale notes are muted
Snap — out-of-scale notes are remapped to the nearest in-scale pitch
Waveform
Click the canvas → cycle sine → square → triangle → sawtooth.
Console Feedback
When you press 7 / 8 / 9 / 4 / 5 / 1 / 2, Posey logs the current bend mode, scale, note-fit mode, bend speed, or attack in the browser console (pitch-bend keys themselves stay quiet).
Scale Library (cycled by Numpad 8)
Major & Modes: Ionian (Major), Lydian, Mixolydian, Dorian, Phrygian, Aeolian (Natural Minor), Locrian
Minor Families: Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor (Asc/Desc)
Pentatonic & Blues: Pentatonic Major/Minor, Blues Pent. Minor/Major, Egyptian Pent., Hirajoshi, In Sen, Kumoi

The tonal center follows your transpose, and all scale-aware bends honor the active scale.
Lore
In the hidden trench cabaret, Posey trades riffs for map fragments. Rumor says the right motif, in the right scale and bend mode, awakens ledger-locked caches—treasure that only fluent neon players can claim.
Tagline: A gold-kissed corsair with rasta tentacles and a synth for a heart—Posey turns pixels into plunder, one scale-true bend at a time.
